Collin Chandler Followed Pope to Kentucky. Now BYU Wants Him Back.
The Pull of Home
Chandler is from American Fork, Utah โ about 40 miles from the BYU campus in Provo. His ties to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints run deep, as do his family connections to the BYU community. When he chose to follow Pope to Kentucky, it wasn't just a basketball decision. It was a decision to leave everything familiar behind.
Now BYU is reportedly prepared to make a major NIL push to bring him home. The money, the proximity to family, the faith community โ it's a powerful combination. Against that, Kentucky offers the SEC, the biggest stage in college basketball, and the coach who recruited him.
Chandler shot 41% from three this season. He played 36 games. He was reliable, consistent, and exactly the kind of shooter Kentucky can't afford to lose heading into a Year 3 where the margin for error is zero.
Collin Chandler: 9.7 PPG, 41% from three, 36 games played. He followed Pope from BYU in 2024. Now BYU wants him back.
