Four Games Was All Kentucky Got. Jayden Quaintance Is Going to the NBA Anyway.
Jayden Quaintance came to Lexington carrying a story he'd already been forced to rewrite once — an ACL at Arizona State, a transfer, a fresh start. He played four games as a Wildcat before his body said no again. Four games. In those four games he averaged 5 points, 5 rebounds, and 16.8 minutes — glimpses, not chapters. Now he's declared for the NBA Draft, and mock boards still have him as a first-round pick, which tells you everything about the talent Kentucky signed and almost nothing about the Kentucky basketball we got to watch. The cruelest part isn't that he's leaving. It's that he never fully arrived. BBN never got to fall in love with him. He was ours for a semester, a promise kept on hold, and now he'll become someone else's cornerstone — and we'll watch from the couch and think about what might have been.
