Evans was the spark plug off the bench for the 1998 'Comeback Cats,' and in the championship game against Utah he scored seven straight points early in the second half as Kentucky erased a 10-point halftime deficit — the largest comeback in NCAA title game history at that time. A Bronx native who transferred from Manhattan College, he averaged 8.8 points and 5.4 rebounds in his first UK season and brought a relentless energy that made him indispensable during the tournament run. His block on Andre Miller's three-pointer with 44 seconds left in the title game is one of the great forgotten plays in championship history.
