Evans was a versatile contributor on Kentucky's 1953-54 team that went 25-0, playing alongside Hall of Famers Cliff Hagan, Frank Ramsey, and Lou Tsioropoulos. Kentucky was 77-6 during his three lettering seasons, and he later won an Olympic gold medal with the 1956 U.S. team in Melbourne alongside Bill Russell.
